WHY WORK WITH THE EAGLE SISTERS?

For more than 13 years we have facilitated over 200 business sales.

A combined background in Business Ownership, Psychology, Business Operations and Sales are our biggest assets in adding significant value to the business sale process.

Our vast experience means we can think outside the box, bringing non-obvious solutions, creative agreements and value to all parties engaged in the business sale process.

One thing is blindingly obvious when working with us: our strong drive for excellence and success. Together we identify the support you need to maximise gains from your business sale. We pride ourselves on truly adding value to our clients throughout their business ownership journey.

Together WE provide:

  • Understanding the heartbeat of your organisation is what we do best.

By building a thorough understanding of your business from multiple angles, we can deliver methods and strategies for developing your business into a prospect that buyers will be fighting over.

  • Impactful communication and negotiation skills are central to your success, we take a relationship-centered approach to this aspect of your sale.

Our purpose is to equip you with the insight to find unique opportunities for mutual benefit. We facilitate difficult conversations with results that will delight all parties.

We are your source for strategy and influence at the negotiation table and in critical conversations that leverage value in your business sale.

To achieve the best result in a business sale, all parties want to feel the joy and anticipation of new possibilities. This is true for both the buyer and the seller. We excel in building trust, de-escalating conflict, and identifying underlying motivators. These skills throughout the negotiation, alongside the business appraisal and marketing process, are both a science and an art.

We work with business owners across numerous industries across New Zealand, the key for us is working with people who ‘get it’. Get that we want your success as much as our own, understand the value and experience we bring to the process and that great things happen when you get the right people involved (that includes other professionals like your lawyers and accountants).

We share in our business owners’ vision and they believe in our approach to secure that outcome.

  • We use our specialist knowledge to help clients understand their business's value today and what aspects of the business can be leveraged to increase the business's value to potential buyers in the future.

We truly believe that you deserve to reap the best outcome from the effort and dedication it has taken to build your business asset.

  • A successful business broker must be able to manage multiple tasks while maintaining quality and focus.

This is of prime value in the sales process, which is very reactionary and often a ‘squiggly line’, not a straight line from point A to point B.

By choosing to work with us you can leverage access to two successful and experienced brokers bringing your business to market, and providing further resource than a single broker can.

While a key aspect of our business evaluation centres on a business's risk assessment (perceived and real), it's our strategic thinking that provides a balanced approach to risk, weighing potential downsides carefully with a business's robust and unique strengths, which can lead to positive business sales outcomes.

We pride ourselves on a buyer-centric approach. While engaged by the business seller, it’s our connection to and a deep understanding of the buyer's needs and preferences, that has helped us succeed so consistently over the years.

  • Our ethical decision-making, social responsibility, and focus on long-term sustainability are key to building trust with stakeholders.

Besides our financial and business operations knowledge, our strengths are; empathy, communication, and interpersonal relationships. These skills bring people (and deals) together by fostering collaboration, encouraging fresh perspectives and unique problem-solving abilities that can lead to innovative solutions.

Our resilience and adaptability allow us to navigate challenges, pivot strategies, and persist through setbacks.

Our reputations are everything and as trustworthy partners in your business ownership and exit journey we can help you achieve more.

Got questions?

Here are the answers to the questions we get asked most frequently, if you can’t find the information you’re looking for feel free to book an obligation free call by clicking the button below.

  • A Business Broker facilitates the sale of a business.

They appraise the business' market value, advertise the business (or facilitate the process to a party already known to the seller), vet the buyers and prepare offers for the purchase of the business. They monitor the due  diligence period through to the conclusion of the contract, resulting in the business sale.

  • They bring a specialist skill set and work to get the best result for the business owner.

  • Interview and get appraisals from a few brokers to understand their approach.

Are they thorough in their appraisal work? Can they provide you with helpful information about how to best prepare your business? Do you like them? What experience do they have?

  • Some brokers will only work with businesses owners wanting to list their business in the short term. We like to work with business owners any time from a couple of years in business onward even if they are not ready to sell.

Having an early appraisal will help you with business decisions throughout your years of ownership. While you may not think you will sell in the next 3-5 years (the optimal window for yearly appraisals), all too often we are approached by unprepared business owners needing to sell because of an unplanned life event.

  • A market business appraisal will give you the best indication on what a buyer is likely to pay for your business BUT the only true way to find out the value of your business is by taking it to market and finding what a buyer is willing to pay when in competition.

  • How long is a piece of string? Meaning, it is different each time. With that said we may be able to help you minimise that timeframe.

Preparing a business for market (talking to a broker a number of years before selling) can significantly reduce the time a business takes to sell by addressing and mitigating the risk factors for a buyer ahead of time. This can result in a faster, smoother sale process.

Overall you can expect a business sale to take 6-9 months from listing to contract. Keep in mind this is heavily impacted by the quality of the business, the marketing and the business broker.

  • In a word, yes.

We are firm believers in keeping your business confidential in marketing, unless there is a specific reason to mention the business brand, which we will discuss with you if we think it's appropriate.

There are a lot of moving parts and people involved in any business sale, and adding customers/suppliers/employees/your neighbour’s uncle to those conversations can be overly taxing on the Seller and potentially the business.

  • Key documents include, but are not limited to, 3-5 years of tax accounts, year-to-date financials, lease documents, key supplier and customer contracts, if applicable.
