What’s new? Quite a lot
We’ve been a little quiet online over the past six months, but behind the scenes, the Eagle Sisters have been anything but quiet.
There’s been plenty happening, from business sales and new opportunities to exciting developments with our brand.
So, what have we been up to? Read on…
A New Home for the Eagle Sisters
Back in May, we made a pretty big move.
After many years with LINK Business Brokers, we decided it was time to find a business environment that felt more like us — and we found exactly that with Barker Business Brokerage.
Founded by a father-and-son team, Barker Business is an owner-operated business brokerage that has been transacting significant business deals across New Zealand for more than 20 years. They are now lucky enough to have us providing strong representation across the Waikato and Bay of Plenty (their words, not ours, we promise!)
We’ve really enjoyed being back in an owner-operated environment. It suits us, it feels like home.
Since joining Barker’s in May, we’ve hit the ground running:
8 new businesses listed
4 businesses sold
2 more close to going into contract
Sales prices ranging from $200,000 to $4 million
Businesses sold across multiple industries
The mix has been wonderfully diverse. We’ve worked across multiple industries in the last few months, from service and hospitality to online retail, manufacturing and distribution — including export-focused businesses
It’s been a busy and exciting start, doing what we do best.
One of the biggest things we’re noticing is strong buyer activity across a range of sectors.
Three of our four recent sales went through multi-offer situations, with significant buyer interest and businesses selling within relatively short time-frames.
And interestingly, service-based businesses are having a real moment in the sunshine.
With the rapid growth of AI and technology, buyers are increasingly recognising the resilience of businesses where the work is physical, specialist or delivered directly to customers. It can provide greater confidence around future maintainable earnings — something buyers, accountants and banks are all looking closely at.
Hot Tip for buyers in the current market – if you like it, act fast and keep it clean!
So, what do we think the next six months will bring?
Normally, we’d expect an election year to create a bit of a wait-and-see mentality. But this year feels different.
After a challenging start to the year, uncertainty around global events and fluctuating fuel prices, we think a lot of that pent-up decision-making has run its course.
Buyers are showing up. And we expect that to continue.
So, thankfully, we haven't booked that pre-election overseas holiday we were joking about… because we think we’re going to be busy!
